Top Secret Project Revealed

I have some really exciting news that I want to pass on.

For some time now we’ve been working on a “secret project’ that all of you will benefit from. My Son, Robert, has been going through an intensive training program on cabbing stone. It’s been great watching his progress as he learns. His work is wonderful! He has an uncanny aptitude towards things like this, which I am grateful for. Adding to his ability to cab is the impeccable eye that my wife Kim has for choosing beautiful stones. She has been the true force behind some of my best work.  Together the two of them will produce some really nice stones for you.

My part in all of this has been overseeing how the cabs are being cut. I have been working with him so that he shapes the cabs with a nice even dome making them easier to wrap. I’ve also been helping him with the shape of the cabs. I spent some time educating him about freeform cabs. I don’t know how many times I’ve seen a beautiful stone that has a weird shoulder jutting out from it making it almost impossible to wrap. I thought that it was important for wire artists to have stones that they can easily work with.

When can you expect to see some of these wonderful cabs? We are pleased to announce that as of July 23rd, 2009 we’ll be making these cabs available via our website http://www.macjewels.com. If you have any stone types that you like us to make available please let me know by emailing me at jim.mcintosh@macjewels.com.

‘til next week,

 Jim McIntosh
